Can you help the village tackle speeding?

There are 2 opportunities to help

Do you want to help the village tackle speeding?

There are 2 opportunities to help:

1) Speed Watch Co-ordinator Wanted – Help Keep Kings Bromley Safe

Every day, our children walk to school beside traffic that is too fast. You can help change that.

We’re looking for a friendly, organised volunteer to co-ordinate Community Speed Watch in the village, working alongside our Village Volunteers and the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP). Training and support are provided, and it takes just a few hours a month.

This voluntary group makes a big difference to speeding traffic in the village every time they go out, so the Co-ordinator is a vital role.

2) Road Safety Working Group Members Wanted:

Our Speed Watch volunteers can only be on the roadside in daylight and good weather.

The Parish Council has bought two Speed Indicator Devices which show drivers their speed when they come into the village on the A515 and whether or not they are driving above the speed limit. These devices record the speed of all vehicles and in both directions.  You may have seen our Speed Reports on the Parish Council’s website or on the Village social media webpages.

Over the past two years we have collected data which clearly shows the excessive and unlawful speeding patterns of vehicles passing through our village.

We now need to focus on how we can work with local and county partners to reduce this danger to us all.

The Parish Council is forming a Working Group of Councillors and Villagers to help do this and we’re looking for help with:

  • planning and focusing our activities
  • liaising with the County Council, Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership, the Police Commissioner’s Office and villagers.

No experience needed, just energy and a wish to help keep our village safe.

If you can spend a few hours a month on either of these roles, please contact our Parish Clerk Jenny Procter by email on clerk@kingsbromley-pc.gov.uk
