I’m writing to inform you about several upcoming carriageway closures due for planned resurfacing and concrete bay repairs.
Firstly, we will be resurfacing a section of the A515 Sudbury roundabout, followed by applying high friction surfacing the next night. The A50 will be fully closed westbound from the A511 Scropton, leading up to Sudbury roundabout, including the northbound approach on the A515 itself. The schedule for these closures is as follows:
– Monday, 29th September 2025, 20:00 – 05:00 – Resurfacing
– Tuesday, 30th September 2025, 20:00 – 05:00 – High friction surfacing application
The diversion for the A50 westbound closure will be to turn at the A511 interchange to head east on the A50 Northbound up the A38 from junction 4 of the A50, across the A52, and then south on the A515 to rejoin the A50 along the Doveridge Bypass. For the northbound approach on the A515, local traffic will be redirected south along the A515, turning right onto the B5017 towards Uttoxeter. This local traffic diversion has been approved by Staffordshire County Council, and a TTRO is in place with Derbyshire County Council to close the A515 approach to Sudbury roundabout. To support this, we will erect additional 7.5t access only and no access signs at the Morton Lane roundabout and may partially close this area to prevent large vehicles from driving through to Marchington. Along with follow diversion not Sat Nav Signs.
Additionally, we are planning full A50 closures along the eastbound Doveridge Bypass to address concrete defects by carrying out full-depth bay repairs. The diversion for these closures will involve turning A50 traffic around at the A518 roundabout, directing them back to the A522 JCB World Parts, then north to join the A52, turning right towards Ashbourne, and then south back down the A515 to rejoin the A50 before Sudbury. There will be no signed diversion for A50 traffic following the A518/B5017, but we will erect ‘Follow diversion Not Sat Nav’ on the A50 prior to and at the point of the closure along with 7.5t weight limit Access Only signs at the Racecourse end of the B5017. The dates for these works are as follows:
Eastbound A518 roundabout – A515 Ashbourne Interchange:
– Thursday, 23rd October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
– Friday, 24th October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
– Saturday, 25th October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
Westbound A515 Ashbourne Interchange – A518 roundabout (Including Marston Lane):
– Thursday, 27th October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
– Friday, 28th October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
– Saturday, 29th October 2025, 20:00 – 05:00
I believe this covers the planned works for the remainder of 2025, although there may be fewer nights than currently booked or possibly additional dates if instructed to arrange further work.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.
Kind Regards
Colin Morris MCIHT
